Congratulations to Isaiah Seunath, named the ODAA Student of the Month for February 2026! Isaiah is a senior at Moore High School in Moore, Oklahoma. Unlike many of his peers, Isaiah Seunath hasn’t always aspired to be a pilot. It wasn’t until his sophomore year of high school that he took an interest in aviation. Moore High School had begun to offer an exciting 4-year pathway of study in aviation and aerospace. They were offering spots to sophomores since it was such a new program.

Excited to learn everything he could about aviation, Isaiah rushed to his guidance counselor requesting a spot in the class, and from there, he was all in. Throughout his three years in the AOPA You Can Fly program, Isaiah’s main goal has been focused on becoming a commercial pilot and although his school also had a UAS/drone program, he wasn’t particularly interested. Coming upon his senior year, his teacher/mentor Michael Russell encouraged the entire class to take the FAA Part 107 certification test and although Isaiah had no interest in flying drones, his father encouraged him to take the certification exam, as well.

On Dec. 20, Isaiah became the first student in the Moore Public School district to pass the Part 107 Exam and to become an FAA Certified Drone Pilot. Once Isaiah had that checked off his list, he immediately met with a lawyer to properly establish an LLC, allowing him to start a photography business that includes the use of drone videos and photographs.

In a school of over 2,700 students, Isaiah stands out because of his leadership and drive to serve others. Isaiah is a FUSE leader, where he mentors and guides freshmen through their first year of high school. He serves on Moore’s Student Lighthouse Team, a new program that incorporates the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" into their school culture. He serves on the Superintendent's Leadership Academy class. Isaiah was also chosen as the back-to-back Manager of the Year for the Varsity Volleyball Team. He participates in STUCO, National Honor Society, golf, and even Emcees school assemblies. Isaiah is also engaged in the broader aviation community, attending Student Aero Days, Women in Aviation events, and participating in the first-ever UAS/Drone Search and Rescue Competition.

After graduating high school, Isaiah plans to further his education at Rose State College and then on to the University of Oklahoma, where he plans to major in aviation management and apply to their pilot program. As Isaiah said, “I hope to learn to fly at OU, but if they don’t teach me, I know the military will. Either way, I plan to enlist because my dad is my role model and he serves in the military. Hopefully, I can join already knowing how to fly, but if not, the military can teach me.”

In nominating Isaiah, his aviation instructor, Michael Russell noted, “Isaiah is always up for a challenge and wants to constantly learn more each day. With his ultimate goal to become a commercial airline pilot, Isaiah welcomes all adventures and experiences along the way, knowing each one will enhance his knowledge, ultimately making him a better pilot. I cannot think of a more worthy recipient of this honor.”

We couldn’t agree more. Congratulations, Isaiah! The Oklahoma aerospace community salutes you. Way to fly!
