Last week at the State Capitol, Moore High School Senior Isaiah Seunath and other Oklahoma seniors were honored on the House of Representatives floor as students of the month during Aero Oklahoma Advocacy Day.

More than 1,500 people from various aviation-based industries, the military and high school students explored businesses and vendors on the second and third floors, shoulder-to-shoulder, to connect, learn, and celebrate the industry. They were there as part of the Aviation, Aerospace & Defense Awareness Day.

After receiving certificates from Statewide Aerospace STEM Education Manager Paula Kedy and Aerospace Education Coordinator Stephanie Holt Lucas. They also heard personal work pathway stories in aviation from former NASA Chief of Staff Gabe Sherman, Capt. Kyle Ferguson of the 185th Oklahoma Air National Guard and 1st Lt. Julie Harris, a Blackhawk pilot with the Oklahoma Army National Guard.

Seunath has been in the AOPA You Can Fly program at MHS for three years. He was encouraged to take the FAA Part 107 certification test and in the fall semester, he became the first Moore Public Schools student to pass the Part 107 Exam and become an FAA Certified Drone Pilot.

His father helped him meet with a lawyer to properly establish an LLC, allowing him to start a photography business that includes drone videos and photographs.

After graduating high school, Seunath plans to further his education at Rose State College and then on to the University of Oklahoma, where he looks to major in aviation management and apply to their pilot program.

He said, “I hope to learn to fly at OU, but if they don’t teach me, I know the military will. Either way, I plan to enlist because my dad is my role model and he serves in the military.”
